Moving Practice is an architecture and research office dedicated to the idea of doing less damage and using fewer resources within the built environment. In our work we prioritise the use of low impact materials and techniques. Rather than going along with conventional, carbon-intensive building methods, we question their effects and seek to redefine current practices. We place emphasis on the practices of repair, maintenance and reuse.

Making architecture is essentially digging up bits of the earth’s crust over here and moving it over there. Recognizing the destructive effects of resource extraction, we see an urgent need to put forward more regenerative practices where we acknowledge there are already enough resources circulating. Our approach is based on minimising needs and means and prioritising the use of what already exists. We look to local knowledge for a more holistic approach to construction and environment. The architecture is defined by a material and structural clarity wherein we follow and highlight the logics and qualities of chosen construction methods.

We value a hands-on process and we oversee the design from concept to construction. Moving Practice is floating around Europe with a current base in Copenhagen, Denmark.
